Accessories
| Christmas lights come in all manner of devices. One of the most popular tyes was the illuminated tree stand. Here is a nice example of an "art deco" style stand from the 1930's which works great. Every holiday season I use it to set up a small artificial tree which I adorn with C6 lights and old "Shiny Brite" ornaments. I put vintage bubble lights in this base and it is a truly nostalgic piece which delights guests to our home. |

| Many accessories were made to be used with electric Christmas lights. Here are Mirrostar Reflecters which fit underneath the lights and the fabulous Whirlshades. A small cone with a pin fit on the tip of the bulb. A shade with angled vents sat on top of this pin. When the bulb heated the air around it the rising hot air moved through the vents causing the shade to "spin". They are fun to watch. | ![]() |

| This is an old flasher plug that you would insert into the plug before plugging the lights. The device would flash the lights on the string. | ![]() |
| This is a "Jobber Card" which would have been displayed where Christmas Lights were sold. This one is for selling clips which clamped onto lights sockets. Not all sets came with clips to secure the sockets to the branches of the tree. NOMA usually put their "patented Berry Bead" on their sets so that the sockets were held in place by the wires of the light cord. You could buy one or the whole card depending on your need. Today it is difficult to find any C7 or larger set which does not have clip built into the socket. |

| Here is a nice NOMA window or mantle candleabra. It takes C7 bulbs and is interesting because of the painted metal base. The candles are made of cardboard tubes. It still works nicely too. | ![]() |
| Here are two nice old electric window candles. It was my "job" when I was a child to go around tightening the bulbs in the sockets to illuminate them in the evening. I can still see how our home looked in the winter night with candles glowing in a frosty window. Perhaps it is not christmas lights we collect, but memories. | ![]()
