Day 122
Congdon shelter, VT
1586 miles

I went from Dalton to the summit of Mt. Greylock, the highest peak in Massachusetts.  There's an ornate stone tower on top, and with the clear, cool weather we've been having, quite stunning 360 degree views.  I tried the work-for-stay option at Bascom Lodge on top, and in exchange for a couple hours of help in the dining room (setting tables before dinner and washing dishes after) I got a bunk, shower, and two meals for a discounted price of $15.

Today I hiked into Vermont.  It always feels good to complete a State and start a new one.  I've always thought that if I could make it at least this far, and then something happened, it would still be reasonable to complete the rest of the Trail as a series of section hikes during yearly vacations.  Not that I want to jinx myself into slipping on a rock tomorrow and busting my leg.  It just feels good to be back in "Tri-State Megabucks" Lottery territory again.  Sigh...
