Troop Election Guidelines

Elections for troop leadership positions are held every six months.  Term of office is six months.  Nominations are taken the week before.  Troop Junior Leader Training will be conducted following the election.  All scouts in an elected position are required to attend.  Others may be invited to attend.

If you would like to hold a leadership position listed in the table below, you will be asked to:

  • Show leadership in your elected or appointed position
  • Perform all duties related to your position as listed on Junior Leader Training Job descriptions
  • Attend a minimum of 75% of PLC meetings, Troop meetings, and outings
  • Patrol leaders must conduct patrol meetings
  • Work with my Senior Patrol Leader, Leadership Patrol and Adult Leaders
  • Set the example for other scouts by living the Scout Oath and Scout Law and wear the complete scout uniform correctly.

All candidates for Senior Patrol Leader must have already served one term in another leadership position and attended either troop JLT or Counsel JLT.  SPL candidates must submit a written statement of your intention to run for SPL.  Your statement should include an explanation of why you should be SPL, what you would like to accomplish as SPL and whom you would like to appoint as your two assistant SPL's.  Submit your written statement to the Scoutmaster.

Candidates for all positions except patrol scribe and patrol quartermaster must be First Class rank or higher.  Assistant patrol leader can be Second Class rank with Scoutmaster approval.
