Self Test: Get into programming mode (#20, 1234 1 #) then dial # 81 (All with the handset down) You can then press all the buttons and the LEDs will light. Then hit all the # keys and some LEDs will go out. Lift and replace handset to end self test.

MT-16 and ProStar Single line set codes: Intercom stations starts at 21. For an outside line dial 9 or 81 for CO#1, 82 for CO#2 etc.. For external page dial 11

To turn the annoying music on hold off on an Excel KSU (if you want to call it music) you need to put a jack in the EXT MUSIC plug on the side of the KSU. Any headphone type jack will do, you can cut the end off a broken set of walkman headphones or buy a replacement jack at radio shack. You could also hook up a cheap radio or CD player to play instead. Just hook up a wire from the speaker or output jack of a radio to the MUSIC plug on the KSU, start off with a really low volume and see how it sounds when on hold, turn it up SLOWLY until it sounds good. It will not get very loud and turning it up too loud could break your music-on-hold feature.
