Article Vll

Forfeiture of Membership—May be Again Admitted.
Any member who shall neglect for two years to pay his assessments, provided he has been within this State, and his bill has been presented, or who shall sink into a common drunkard, or be guilty of any atrocious vice, or become so contentious and troublesome as to disturb the peace and harmony of said Society, may be discharged therefrom at the annual meeting, by a majority of the votes of the members present, and be excluded from any benefit from any relief, unless such reformation should afterwards take place as to entitle the person to a readmission, which in such case may be obtained by a similar vote to that of expulsion.

Article VIII

Honorary members, when admitted, shall pay into the funds any sum, not less than one hundred dollars, for a membership—and all voluntary donations received from them shall be recorded by the Secretary in the books of the Society. They shall be deemed ineligible to the office of President or Vice President, and shall receive no aid from the Society.

Maritime Members Requested to Communicate Observations in Promotion of Nautical Knowledge.
It is enjoined on every maritime member of this Society, on his arrival from sea, to communicate to the President his observations, respecting the variations of the needle, the soundings, courses, and distances and all other things remarkable about this coast, as well as any particular observation pro-motive of nautical knowledge, in writing, to be examined and digested by the committee appointed by the Society for that purpose, and lodged with the Secretary to be recorded in the books of the Society.

Article X

An Unfortunate Member May Have His Assessment Remitted.
On a written communication to the President, stating that any member by shipwreck, capture, or other misfortune is unable to pay his assessments, all demands on him therefore may be suspended until the further order of the Society.
