Matt's father, and his great uncle Maxwell Richardson are both hobby boat builders, who have build their own wooden pleasure boats. Matt's great grandfather, Hazen George Richardson, his father, and his father bore him, were professional boat builders who owned and operated the Richardson Boat Company on Deer Island, New Brunswick, in Eastern Canada.
