Come! Summer
Meeting: Recruiting Volunteers July
10th 2003 Noon
to 1:30 United
Way of Greater Portland 400
Congress St., 4th Floor, Conference Room 1, Portland, ME Parking
is at the Top of the Old Port lot at the corners of Pearl and Congress St.
Bring your ticket for free parking. The
location and topic of this meeting for directors of volunteers and volunteer
programs in Cumberland County have changed from the originally announced
location and topic. The reasons
for the changes are two-fold: 1.
Marilyn Traiser, our hostess, will have left the Casco Bay YMCA by
that time. Family maters are
calling her away from the world of work. Please keep her in your thoughts in
this time of transition. We will postpone our visit to the “Y’s”
Pineland program to another time. 2.
It is time to update listings on VolunteerPortland.org
for our next printed guide and many improvements have been made to our
volunteer site that will make recruiting volunteers through the site much
easier. a.
Direct link from your web site to your section on
VolunteerPortland.org so that you only have to maintain your listings in one
spot b.
Connections with Points of Light Web site and VolunteerMaine.org c.
Potential to recruit volunteers for one time events right from the
web site. d.
Automatically having your new listing send to the “Getting
Involved” Column (The newspaper doesn’t always print them but we always
send them) e.
Tracking volunteer hours through the site f.
Public Service announcements being broad cast on TV about the site
(We will view it – all 30 seconds of it) 3.
Other ways to increase your appeal to volunteers. 4.
Measuring the outcomes of your recruiting efforts. 5.
Please bring or send recommendations for programs this fall and
winter We
always like our summer meeting to have a festive atmosphere so come and we
will provide the lunch in an indoor picnic setting. Please
let Dorothy Grannell know that you are coming.
Either leave a message at 874-1000 x 318 or e-mail dgrannell@unitedwaygp.org
Look
for a postal mailing coming later this week that will tell you specifically
about the printed guide for www.volunteerportland.org
and how to access the web site in ways to showcase your volunteer
opportunity. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please return to Barbara Corriveau, Membership Chair, 306 Sebago Lake Road, Gorham ME 04038 or email us at gortrail@maine.rr.com 2003 Membership Application THANK YOU!
