Maine College Dems take

national leadership roles

Congratulations to three Maine College Democrats who won elections for national leadership roles!  These leaders will help steer the College Democrats of America for the 2008 presidential election and Maine's U.S. Senate race between Congressman Tom Allen and Susan Collins, already gaining national attention.

During the CDA national convention in South Carolina last weekend, Mainers Alex Cornelle du Houx, and Kyle Schulberg, as well as Bowdoin alum Frank Chi, were elected to positions on CDA's executive board.

"The Maine Democratic Party is proud of our young leaders," said Vice Chair Marianne Stevens. "Their leadership skills are nationally recognized by their peers and will help lead Democrats here in Maine and across the nation to victory in 2008."

Fifteen students from Maine joined more than 500 from across the nation to hear the top presidential candidates speak, attend trainings and elect their new leadership.

A 2007 graduate of Bowdoin, Chi now works at the media consulting firm GMMB in Washington, D.C. He was elected Communications Director.

Bowdoin senior and a Marine veteran of the Iraq War, du Houx was elected National Council Chair. Thomaston's Schulberg, who currently works for Congressman Allen in his Washington, D.C. office, was elected Development Director.

Maine College Democrats President Henry Beck said, "The accomplishments of Frank, Alex and Kyle speak highly of Maine and Maine's College Democrats."
