All of the Falcon suspension and and most of the steering has been
removed. The steering column and box are factory issue, but
everything else is new. The steering box was rebuilt by Precision
Products in TX. Excellent work, very quick, and fair price.
The disk brakes and spindles are from a Granada (new calipers and
rotors). The suspension was designed and built by Flying Five
Motorsports. This is one hot setup and makes a lot of the Cobra
guys jealous. The tubular arms, strut rods, and tierods are all
made with heim joints. No more shims or ball joints. This
provides infinite tuning options. The entire geometry has been
changed/improved.
The factory Falcon/Mustang suspension has the springs attached to the
upper control arm. This type of setup has inherent design problems
when it comes to performance. My new setup has the coilover
connected to the lower control arm.
The brake master cylinder is from Wilwood. It is designed for
4-wheel disks and has the plumbing on the left side. This was
important as there isn't much room on the right. |
