At the time of the American Civil War, sutlers had an unsavory reputation. They often sold shoddy products to poor soldiers who had little choice. Today’s Civil War enthusiast will find a wide variety of sutlers offering a wide variety of products, and their reputations have improved considerably. What follows is a list of a few of the sutlers who offer products for reenactors. This is by no means a complete list, nor is it an endorsement of any one particular sutler.
