Decoupage is a craft I have been practicing since before I was aware it was an art form. From making a cutting to decorate a gift box for a friend or using a decal to put on a piece of furniture or wall, the endless possibilities and easy accessibility of images to be used in this way always appealed. My strong interest though, emerged some years ago after seeing samples of others' work and reading extensively about decoupage. I started culling through old magazines, catalogues, calendars, antique and vintage ephemera, whatever came to hand, making quite a collection of pictures to be used. Like other crafts I also enjoy; quilting, mosaic and shell work, it is the process of reinterpreting already existing items in a new and unique way that is such fun. Now that time allows this is how I am choosing to spend my creative time. The relative ease of execution, low cost of materials and limited space necessary make this a very desirable way to express one's creativity.
