Welcome to my world!

I believe that life is like a spiral, always twists and turns.  For every downward slide my life takes, I drag along  a sense of humor, a bag of chocolate, and of course, some bottled water.  I try to hang on, enjoy the view, and on my way back up again bring something I might have learned, or better yet, remember what I never want to have to learn all over again.  I've heard that God gives only  what He knows you can handle - I've reminded myself thousands of times that this must be true.  I hope this is true. 

I have a good husband whom I don't appreciate nearly enough, and a son who is bright and insightful.  I have a daughter who passed away when she was eleven, and another who was literally sent from Heaven one year to the day later.

Bonnie's Team! Light the Night 2002

Our Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society was more than I had hoped for in so many ways.  Our community of friends, family and neighbors from all over New England came out in droves on Saturday, September 21, to raise funds for the society.  Money raised goes directly to finding a cure for these types of cancer.  Having lost Bonnie to non-Hodgkin's large-cell lymphoma, you can imagine the urgency I feel in not wanting another soul to have to wonder if today might be the day a cure is found.

We also walked to show our support to those in treatment, and those folks happily cancer free.  The words cancer and loss are not reserved for mourning of a personal soul.  They are just as relevant to those who have been handed that difficult path and the swift forever-change their lives have taken.  Cancer, even for a survivor, took away a former life in that space between one heart beat to the next when the doctor spoke the word out loud.   

I walked for them, in remembrance of their loss and struggles, for those in treatment and the difficulties they face as well as the bright futures that lay ahead for them, and for Bonnie. We walk for all of you.
