Sunday, August 3, 2003, 5:00 p.m. CLIIA Annual Meeting and Cookout We'll be firing up the grill for the annual summer business meeting of the Cousins Littlejohn Islands Improvement Association. Bring your thoughts and ideas, along with something to throw on the grill for yourself and a salad or dessert to share. Monday, August 18, 7:30 P.M. Yarmouth Historical Society Program "19th Century Sailing Captains in Fact and Fiction" by Stan Maloney, 7:30 pm at the Cousins Island Community House. Co-sponsored with the Cousins Littlejohn Island Improvement Association. Richard Henry Dana’s Two Years Before the Mast, and Jack London’s Sea Wolf fascinate us with vivid accounts of seafaring life. Combining fiction with research into ships logs, personal diaries, and business correspondence, University of New England Professor Emeritus Maloney will discuss the complicated and dangerous careers of ship captains.
